ABOUT SKUISHI PRESS

SKUISHI PRESS

My name is Susan Ely Gonzalez, "Skuishi." I graduated from The University of Texas at El Paso with a Bachelor's in Art with a Double concentration in Printmaking and Graphic Design and a Minor in Museum Art Studies. My career is primarily focused on printmaking. I have been in the art culture for ten years. My works have been inspired differently throughout the years. I mainly enjoy creating series about Mexican holidays, traditional Mexican Folkloric dances, personal experiences, dreams, and personal observations. I have participated in many shows locally, nationally, and internationally.

The techniques I use in printmaking are relief with linoleum and wood, etching, water-less lithography, and stencils. I am proficient in many Adobe programs for graphic design, where I create logos, posters, and stationary. But! I enjoy working with all types of art, practicing my drawing skills with several mediums (pencil, charcoal, chalk, and white pencil), line work, high contrasts, and scratchboard.

Skuishi Press is my printmaking studio and art business where I can continue creating my works of art and inspire others to follow their dreams, create art, represent the borderland community, represent their culture, and, most importantly, a way to express themselves.
